AMAZING!!!
If I could only use one word to describe last Friday's show with Jeff Murrell & Friends. . . that would be it!
I was so excited for this event- partly because of my company ;). My sister and her husband were visiting from Germany! It was my brother-in-law's first trip to Warmdaddy's and the first time that my sister had been back there since they moved out of the country. My aunt/self-proclaimed "big sis" (who also is a singer) joined us.
*Right before she moved, my sister and I went to Warmdaddy's for Jeff's Birthday/Luther Legacy Show! So the trip to Philly for this show was extra special!*
I didn't know exactly what to expect but I knew it would be great! Jeff was joined by Chartel Findlater and Steven Walker on (background) vocals and of course he had the amazing band- Vertical Current playing for him!
Friday's show proved that these singers and musicians appreciate a variety of styles and time periods of music and can perform just about anything! (My phone was acting crazy so I was only able to record one song :-/.)
Seeing the energy with which they performed, you probably wouldn't have known that the majority of the set was spontaneous/unexpected. They pulled it off!
Let me just list out some of the highlights. . .
Spend My Life With You- Eric Benet & Tamia (feat. Chartel)
Water Runs Dry- Boyz II Men
If You Think You're Lonely Now- Bobby Womack
Rock With You- Michael Jackson
Happy- Pharrell
I absolutely loved watching Jeff and the crew respond to the audience's energy! From getting audience members to sing along to accepting random song requests, it was obvious that Jeff really wanted to ensure that everyone had a great time!
While he payed homage to talented artists who have passed away over the years, I was glad that he also included his own song (and one of my favorites!), "Whatever" in the show. {If/when I get married, I just might have to get him to perform this at the reception lol.} Check out the video below for an acoustic version. . .
I definitely think it's great to hear talented artists put on a good show but a lot of people may not realize how much of an impact taking the time to connect with the audience can have. Jeff does that! Whether it's coming off of the stage to sing with whoever wants to, taking pictures, making jokes or just getting to know the people who have come out to hear him sing. . . Jeff Murrell is a performer you won't forget!
If you can, be sure to go see him LIVE! You won't be disappointed.

*By the way, I tried the Southern Neptune Seafood Salad instead of my usual salmon. . . delicious!
